Within ten minutes

• Shenxi Canyon rafting: 2.5 km, 5 minutes by car, winner of a Zhejiang rafting award. Usually open from 1 May to National Day, busiest in July and August. The stream at our door is the rafting river; the start is at Guanshi on the Shenwang Road.
• Shenxi rock field (Dashilang): 5.6 km, 10 minutes, the largest rift rock field in Asia. There is another wild one opposite the house — free, with a short climb.
• Laoshikan reservoir: 7 km, 10 minutes, a national water conservancy scenic area, free.

About half an hour

• Anji salamander national nature reserve (Longwang Mountain): about 30 minutes, free, the highest peak in northern Zhejiang.
• Qianmutian alpine wetland: about 30 minutes, on the ridge inside the reserve, a climb, free.
• Zhebei Grand Canyon: 15 km, 25 minutes, with a 170 m glass bridge.

At the door

The Shenxi stream is free for fishing, swimming and kayaking; the spring beside the house is good for stream walking — the water runs fast after rain, so take care and bring your own gear.
