The valley is quiet and sound carries far. A few small things, so that everyone sleeps well and the house and the hills stay safe.
Quiet hours
Between 11 pm and 6 am, please keep voices and music low. The host is up early preparing breakfast, and we would like you to sleep well too.
Pets and smoking
Sorry, we can't host pets. Please do not smoke indoors; there is an ashtray in the courtyard. With this much dry vegetation around, make sure a cigarette is completely out before you put it down.
Fire and appliances
Please do not burn candles, incense or any open flame in the rooms. The fridge is looked after by the host; just ask us and we will store things for you.
Children and safety
Children should stay with an adult, especially by the stream, on the stone steps and on the hill paths. Please stay out of the water after rain or when it is running high — safety matters more than a photo.
The house
If furniture or fittings are damaged, the repair cost is taken from the deposit; we mention this in advance. Please dry wet clothes in the courtyard, the wooden floors indoors do not like damp.
The hills and the stream
You can bring rubbish back to the courtyard and we will take it out every morning. Please do not leave glass or plastic in the hills or by the water: this stream feeds the Laoshikan reservoir and eventually the Huangpu River in Shanghai.
